From veteran listening circles to after-school family programs, we have been bringing our compassion programs and mindful service projects to veteran communities since 2017.
Watch how one veteran and his daughter practice the compassion habits they learned with Mindful Littles:
Recent studies show military veterans are more likely than the general population to have experienced one or more traumatic events in their youth. Called adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), these events combined with the high rates of service-related trauma increase the risk for suicidal behavior as well as social-emotional impairments that have a negative ripple effect on veterans and their families.
Mindful Littles proactively addresses the massive mental health challenge facing our veterans and their families through our holistic model of empathy and compassion training.

The presence of ACEs are more predictive of suicidal ideation than serving in a combat zone or experiencing a traumatic brain injury.

When I told my daughter that we missed the last session, she was so disappointed, but asked if there was any chance we could call you guys at least to say goodbye… She really took to both of you (and the teaching as well—we’ve both been using it!). It was great getting to know you guys and hope we cross paths again!”

Helping Veterans through our Mindful Service Projects
From peace kits to warm cooked meals, our mindful service projects provide youth an opportunity to learn how to bring peace and nourishment to veterans. We partner with nonprofits that support veterans in need, like Veteran’s Path and Operation Dignity.
Our Peace Kits for Veterans were also the seed for our Journey into Paradise and other trauma-impacted, high ACEs communities.
The impact from our first Peace Kits for Veterans project was so strong that post-9/11 veteran Travis Groft joined Mindful Littles as a facilitator and then a full-time employee.
Mindful Littles is how we change. This is how we are going to fight the good fight; not with weapons and strategies of self-defense, but by being proactive with love. I believe Mindful Littles is the solution. It will awaken our youth and help contribute to a more positive future.”
