Social Causes: Food Insecurity, Nutrition, Basic Needs

Built in collaboration with public health researchers and food & nutrition experts, we teach students and grownups the importance of healthy eating habits, while empowering them to help those who may lack consistent access to nutritious food and basic needs.

Program Offerings

Classroom Series: Nourishing Students Inside Out

Empower upper elementary students to understand and address food insecurity through hands-on learning, reflection, and community action. This integrated, standards-aligned program combines nutrition education with purposeful service projects that inspire empathy, civic responsibility, and healthy habits.

 Program Highlights:

  • Full-Year Curriculum Access — Includes lessons on food systems, nutrition, and food justice, plus 2 student-led service learning projects that address local food insecurity.
  • Monthly Educator Coaching — Collaborative sessions with peer educators to support implementation and share success strategies.
  • Integrated Evaluation Tools — Track student learning, behavior change, and community impact with built-in assessment and reporting tools.
  • Trainer Support Materials – Slides, handouts, and facilitation guides to help educators lead with confidence.

Classroom Field Trips to the Food Bank

Bring learning to the real-world through immersive, service-based field trips that connect students with local food banks. These experiences give students a first-hand understanding of food insecurity while empowering them to make a tangible difference in their community. 

 Program Highlights:

  • Digital Curriculum Access — Pre- and post-trip lessons aligned with classroom standards that explore food systems, food insecurity, empathy, and community cares.
  • Turnkey Coordination — We manage all field trip logistics and planning with food bank partners to ensure a meaningful, organized experience.
  • Integrated Evaluation Tools — Track student learning, behavior change, and community impact with built-in assessment and reporting tools.

Family Engagement Program

Train family liaisons, school leaders and student peer leaders to facilitate afterschool and weekend family service projects or integrate feel good, do good stations into your existing family programs. 

Food Insecurity & Nutrition Projects can include: 

  • Meal/Nourishment Kits 
  • Basic Needs Kits

Program components include:

  • Full-year access to curriculum
