Mindful Littles is thrilled to announce that the nonprofit is once again the recipient of an Orinda Community Foundation grant.
The funds from the grant will support mindful service learning events in the Lamorinda community. These monthly events engage families in impactful service projects that directly benefit local nonprofits like Youth Homes, White Pony Express, Shelter, Inc., and the Women’s Daytime Drop-In Center among others.
The mission of the Orinda Community Foundation is to enhance “…the quality of life in Orinda by fostering community spirit and citizen engagement, building partnerships and providing financial assistance to support community activities, beautification and the arts.” The foundation gave out grants to 25 nonprofits in 2022; Mindful Littles is grateful to be one of them.
Our monthly mindful service learning events are designed for elementary school aged children and their families. Each experience includes connecting to oneself through mindfulness and movement. In addition, we use storytelling to help younger children understand and connect with the people and communities they’re supporting. These communities include the unhoused, foster youth, new moms and babies, first responders, chronically ill children, and the food insecure.
Said one parent who brought their family to an event: “You make is so easy for us to find teaching moments for our children.”
Thank you again to the Orinda Community Foundation for helping us bring teaching moments to families in Lamorinda!
